Thomas More House, the Barbican, London

The apartment is a type 21 with 2 bed rooms and a south facing living room and is located on the sixth floor overlooking the original Museum of London complex.

The refurbishment comprised:

- new floor finishes throughout

- new kitchen, bathroom and utility room, replacing the original cloaks.

- all doors+ over panels where replaced with full height solid core doors.

The client wanted to retain the kitchen cabinet configuration of the original kitchen design, but without slavishly copying the original, allowing for improved functionality and an updated, richer palette of materials. The WC was moved to the bathroom to free up space in the original cloaks to create a utility room with washer/ dryer. The bathroom was reconfigured with large format wall and floor tiles and a white Corian vanity top with hardwood veneered doors and paneling. A linen cabinet next to the walk in shower provides useful extra storage.
